Bonsoy Almond Milk: More Than Just a Café Favourite

If you’ve ordered an almond latte in Australia, there’s a good chance you’ve already spotted that familiar yellow Bonsoy carton behind the counter. But Bonsoy Almond Milk is worth knowing beyond the coffee shop. With its light, nutty flavour and smooth texture, it’s a versatile plant-based milk that works just as well in your kitchen as it does in your morning coffee.

So, what makes Bonsoy Almond Milk different?

Bonsoy Almond Milk is made with roasted almond paste, which gives it its naturally nutty aroma and flavour. It’s 100% vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free and cholesterol-free, making it an easy alternative for people avoiding dairy or simply looking to add more plant-based options to their routine. A 200ml serve contains less than 1g of saturated fat, and its light flavour is designed to hold up well when heated or blended.

And, of course, there’s the froth. Bonsoy Almond Milk is made to perform well when heated and frothed, which helps explain why it has become such a familiar sight alongside espresso machines in Australian cafés.

A little Bonsoy history

Bonsoy has actually been around much longer than the plant-based milk trend.

The brand arrived in Australia back in the 1980s with Bonsoy Soy Milk (the first modern Japanese soy milk introduced to the Australian market). Since then, the range has expanded to include other plant-based beverages, including its almond milk. Bonsoy Almond Milk is still made in Japan, continuing that connection to the brand’s origins.

Another detail we like? Instead of relying on almond flavouring, Bonsoy uses roasted almond paste as part of the recipe.

Not just for coffee: 2 ways to use Bonsoy Almond Milk at home

We know it makes a great almond latte, but your coffee doesn’t need to have all the fun.

1. Berry & Almond Breakfast Smoothie

An easy one for busy mornings, post-workout snacks or whenever breakfast needs to happen in approximately two minutes.

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup Bonsoy Almond Milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 2 tablespoons rolled oats
  • 1 tablespoon peanut butter
  • A handful of ice
  • 1 cup planted-protein power

How to make it:

Add everything to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Add a little more Bonsoy Almond Milk if you prefer a thinner consistency, pour into your favourite glass and you’re done. 🙂

2. Cinnamon Almond Chia Pudding

Breakfast, snack or dessert? We’re not here to put labels on things. 🙂

You’ll need:

  • 1 cup Bonsoy Almond Milk
  • 3 tablespoons chia seeds
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey
  • Fresh berries, banana or toasted almonds to serve

How to make it:

Combine the Bonsoy Almond Milk, chia seeds, cinnamon, vanilla and your choice of sweetener in a jar or bowl. Stir well, leave it for around five minutes, then stir again to prevent the chia seeds from clumping.

Cover and refrigerate for a few hours or overnight. When you’re ready to eat, top with fresh fruit, toasted almonds or whatever you have on hand.
